DVD

As you know we don't have cable. We DO have a state of the art DVD player and a nice full HD 1080p 40 inch Samsung LCD tv. So what do we watch in the evening or during week-ends?

We are big fans of the BBC "Walk with" series. We have the whole collection. The most famous ones are the Walking with Dinosaurs but they also made "prehistoric beasts", "monsters", etc.

We watched some rented DVD's the last few weeks: Disturbia, Ocean's 13, The Bourne Ultimatum, Alpha Dog, Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix, ...
We rent them for 1 dollar per day from a machine in the local retailer. They don't make any profit on the DVD's but you have to go back to the machine to bring them back, so the retailer makes up that loss because you buy some other stuff too.

We are big fans of TV-shows, we watched Heroes (Series 1), 4400 (Series 3) and 24 (Series 5)

We watched the first episode of the Sopranos but we didn't like the show at all.

We bought some DVD series for the holiday period: House MD (Series 1 and 2), Dark Angel (Series 1), The Office (Series 1 and 2)

In Belgium the only two tv-shows we really liked were "Expeditie Robinson" and "Peking Express".

The new Peking Express hasn't started yet, we can hardly wait.

Finally we will be able to watch some TV

We have a lot of real HD channels on the cable here. Will update on that later when we are used to the TV and the cable programming guide...
Devices behind the TV: Set top box with HD recording (cable), DVD player (upscaling from 480 to 1080P).

HDMI cables are real easy to use, just plug them in the 2 devices and they are ready to go. 1 small cable for sound and image.

SOFA for our living from this modern furniture store: ThingZ
The sofa will be deliverd this Monday, pictures will follow. So we still need to buy 2 big items LCD TV 1080P and a bed for us. The TV is the next thing on the list, this is the top favorite for now "Sharp AQUOS LC-46D62U 46" LCD TV 1080P". LINK
