Can someone please explain to me

WHY a news radio is doing the job of the police... Why are they broadcasting this live? What is the added value for that?
This is a big tragedy that could have been avoided. Pity.

Freedom of the press (or press freedom) is the guarantee by our government of free public press for its citizens and their associations, extended to members of news gathering organizations, and their published reporting. It also extends to news gathering, and processes involved in obtaining information for public distribution. Unfortunately, not all countries are protected by a bill of rights or the constitutional provision pertaining to Freedom of the Press as is ours.

Although a cherished right of the people, freedom of the press is different from other liberties of the people in that it is both individual and institutional. It applies not just to a single person's right to publish ideas, but also to the right of print and broadcast media to express political views and to cover and publish news. A free press is, therefore, one of the foundations of a democratic society, and as Walter Lippmann, the 20th-century American columnist, wrote, "A free press is not a privilege, but an organic necessity in a great society." Indeed, as society has grown increasingly complex, people rely more and more on newspapers, radio, and television to keep abreast with world news, opinion, and political ideas. One sign of the importance of a free press is that when antidemocratic forces take over a country, their first act is often to muzzle the press.

The press can be as free as it wants to be, it has nothing to do with freedom of press. My point is two fold:
1. Is pursuing felons convicting crimes not a job of the police? Shouldn't that be a police helicopter who wanted to keep people out of that area because there is something dangerous happening there?
2. Has it come this far that News Channels that are live on air 24/7 need to report LIVE chases of a felony even though this happens all of the time and it has no added value. They could have reported this in the 7 PM evening news with one sentence: "Someone stole a car in the Phoenix area, the police chased and caught the guy." That message would have the same press freedom as the live news report, it would have the same news value but it wouldn't have so many death people involved in it. Which makes it something to think about.

People think 2 helicopters crashed, but they should ask themselves "Why did this happen and How could we avoid these things from happening in the future"

Just my two cents.
